SUMMARY:University Libraries Colloquium
DESCRIPTION:Join us in McWherter 2nd Floor Commons or via Teams
(https://bit.ly/ULresearch18) for our University Libraries Colloquium\,
"Tracing the Evolution of Library Chat: Insights from Transcript
Analysis\," presented by Caitlin Harrington\, Associate Professor at the
University Libraries and Head of Information Access Services. This
presentation traces the evolution of library chat transcript analysis\,
exploring the transition from manual\, time-intensive strategies to those
that harness powerful technology. The high knowledge barrier of computer
programming languages has historically created challenges for librarians to
analyze the incredible quantities of data produced by chat transcripts\,
and this has limited the scalability of transcript analysis research. With
the use of AI\, it has become easier than ever for those without
programming experience to perform valuable analyses\, such as topic
 modeling and summarization.
