Information Literacy and Why Media Matters Online

The UofM Libraries is hosting a series of zoom/Facebook Live events centering on Democracy & navigating these challenging times. For the 3rd event on April 14 at 6pm, Professor Otis Sanford will discuss information literacy, media, and their importance in relation to citizenship, democracy, and civic engagement. Otis Sanford is a UofM Professor in the Journalism & Strategic Media department and is the Hardin Chair of Excellence in Economic and Managerial Journalism. Musical interludes before and after Professor Sanford will feature Dr. Artina McCain (UofM Asst. Professor of Piano) performing: “Sometimes I Feel like a Motherless Child” by Samuel Coleridge Taylor, “Troubled Water” by Margaret Bonds, and “Pan Con Timba” by Aldo Lopez Gavilan.
